In an unprecedented move, I will link fandom and RL and say that I'll be at Dragonflight this weekend with my gaming group, in case anyone else is going to be there and wants to meet up. I imagine I'll be gaming (that's good ol' D&D) mostly, and hopefully drinking beer, but I hope to be at the Shoujo Pajama Party on Saturday night. I'm the one with the buzzcut and glasses and the Fullmetal Alchemist keychain on her backpack (if I remember to transfer it over). And it's OK to rub my head.
In other gaming news, we got to try the Stargate d20 RPG finally. I was the brainy scientist with INT 18 and pretty much sucky stats else. I spoke a whack of languages and had a cool feat where I could share a knowledge skill with another team member.
We were mostly getting a feel for the system, which uses the Spycraft rules, so we didn't get too in depth with Stargate-y stuff, but since the DM is a SG freak, I'm sure we'll get more of that later on.
Anecdote: A couple of the players had only seen the movie. At one point, we were trying to get to the Gate, but were pinned down by Jaffa. M was playing a tank-like Marine, so she had to go ahead to clear the way. But she was reluctant to fire on them. "I don't know if I should," M said. "What are they? Are they human?"
"They're genetically engineered from humans," the Boy told her. "So they're not really human."
"Oh, that's okay then," she said and hit them with a frag grenade.
